MAY 2025 WINE CLUB

Wild for Mexican wines

Born from ancient vines and restless hands, Mexican wine tells a story of sun and soil, of survival and spirit. With more than four centuries of winemaking history, it’s equal parts legacy and revolution. In valleys like Guadalupe, Ojos Negros, Santo Tomás, and Parras, vintners tame desert heat and rocky slopes to craft bottles with bold character and pinpoint nuance.

Mexican wine isn’t a passing trend — it’s a movement that reclaims identity through terroir, sustainability, and fearless innovation. Every sip carries the heartbeat of a land that refuses to be tamed. We hope you enjoy the feisty, beautiful bottles in this month’s lineup.

¡Salud por la tierra que lo vio nacer!

NV L.A. Cetto Brut

Grapes: 100 % Chardonnay
Region: Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico
Retail: $26
Pronunciation: “CHEH-toh”

Baja’s bubbly OG. For more than ninety years L.A. Cetto has coaxed seaside freshness from dusty desert vineyards, and this non-vintage sparkler proves why the winery’s still a local legend. It’s racy, citrus-driven, and just creamy enough to feel fancy without trying too hard.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Shrimp ceviche tostadas with lime + avocado.

2023 Monte Xanic Rosé

Grapes: 100 % Grenache
Region: Ojos Negros Valley, Baja California, Mexico
Retail: $32
Pronunciation: “mon-TAY sha-NEEK”

Monte Xanic—its name means “flower that blooms after the rain” in Nahuatl—was the first Baja winery to map vineyards by GPS and harvest by flashlight. The result is a pale, mineral-kissed rosé that smells like watermelon rind and pink grapefruit, tastes like sea spray, and finishes crisp enough to beg another sip.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Baja-style fish tacos with cabbage slaw + chipotle crema.

2023 Santo Tomás “ST” Cabernet Sauvignon

Grapes: 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Santo Tomás Valley, Baja California, Mexico
Retail: $30
Pronunciation: “SAHN-toh toh-MAHS”

Mexico’s oldest working winery (1888) is anything but dusty. Winemaker Cristina Pino gives this Cab a modern snap: ripe blackberry, roasted poblano, and a hint of Baja chaparral, all wrapped in polished tannins that ask for the grill.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Grilled steak with spring onions + roasted tomato salsa

2023 RG|MX Blanco (6-bottle club exclusive)

Grapes: 80 % Chardonnay, 20 % Chenin Blanc
Region: Valle de Parras, Coahuila, Mexico
Retail: $30
Pronunciation: “ar-HAY em-EX”

Parras is the birthplace of New-World wine (vine cuttings landed here in 1597), and RG│MX is its fresh-faced revival. Zippy pear and yuzu meet a whisper of desert herbs, creating a white that feels sun-washed yet quietly layered.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Citrus-marinated shrimp tacos with lime crema + cilantro.

2023 L.A. Cetto Rosé (6-bottle club exclusive)

Grapes: 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico
Retail: $26
Pronunciation: “CHEH-toh”

Estate Cab turned sunset-hued rosé. Juicy strawberry, hibiscus, and a breeze of Baja salinity make this the bottle that disappears before the sun sets. It’s flirty, relaxed, and anything but pretentious.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Strawberry + fresh-cheese salad with mint + toasted pumpkin seeds.

2023 Santo Tomás “ST” Merlot (6-bottle club exclusive)

Grapes: 100 % Merlot
Region: Santo Tomás Valley, Baja California, Mexico
Retail: $30
Pronunciation: “SAHN-toh toh-MAHS”

Merlot gets a Baja makeover: plush plum and cocoa glide into savory bay leaf and black olive. It’s soft-spoken yet expressive, the red you pour for friends who claim they don’t like Merlot… until they do.

Drinking + pairing ideas: Mushroom + Oaxaca-cheese quesadillas with roasted salsa.
