Wines of Rioja Tasting
🇪🇸 Wines of Rioja
Take a trip to northern Spain, one glass at a time. Rioja is one of Spain’s most storied wine regions, stretching across three distinct growing areas—Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Oriental—where differences in climate, elevation, and soil create an incredible range of styles. Tempranillo may be the region’s star, but grapes like Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, and native white varieties give Rioja plenty of personality beyond the classics.
Join Alex of Joyous Society as we taste four wines and explore a fresh side of Rioja. Joyous Society brings soulful, delicious, naturally minded wines from the Louis/Dressner portfolio to Washington, so expect a lineup that celebrates thoughtful farming, expressive winemaking, and plenty of character. Come sip, ask questions, and maybe discover a new Spanish favorite.

Taste four wines selected for this month’s Wine Club release while we explore how choices around picking, fermentation, aging, and more can completely change what ends up in your glass. Bordeaux has a big reputation, but getting to know it doesn’t have to be intimidating. Join Abe from Winebow for an approachable introduction to one of the world’s most iconic wine regions as we taste through four wines and explore what makes Bordeaux, well… Bordeaux.
We’ll talk grapes, place, blends, and the differences you’ll find throughout the region—from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to the other varieties that make up Bordeaux’s famous blends. Whether you already love the classics or have always wondered what all the Bordeaux fuss is about, come sip, ask questions, and get to know the region one glass at a time.
Menopause, Uncorked: An Intimate Q&A with Susan J. Baumgaertel, MD
Join us at Halfseas for an intimate and approachable conversation with local physician and menopause expert Susan J. Baumgaertel, MD, author of The Menopause Menu. Designed for women in their 40s and 50s who are curious about the menopause transition, this small-group gathering is a chance to learn, ask questions, and talk openly about what’s happening in our bodies during this stage of life.
Meet the Maker: David Marcel of Viña Maitia 🇨🇱
From France to Chile—and from large-scale winemaking to some of Chile’s most treasured old vines. Join us for an intimate maker tasting with David Marcel of Viña Maitia, a French-born winemaker who has called Chile home for more than two decades.
David works primarily with País and Carignan from heritage old vines, crafting understated, incredibly drinkable wines that celebrate Chilean vineyards and the people who farm them. He’s also a passionate advocate for the country’s community of small artisan winemakers, making this a great chance to taste, ask questions, and hear firsthand about a side of Chilean wine you may not know yet.
Meet The Maker: Wine Tasting with Viv Kennedy of RAM Cellars
Meet the maker and taste wines with a story. Join us for a special evening with Vivienne Kennedy of RAM Cellars, a small-batch winery producing premium, low-intervention wines in Southeast Portland.
Vivienne will guide us through three RAM Cellars wines, sharing more about her winemaking philosophy, the stories behind the bottles, and RAM’s commitment to making thoughtful wines while giving back to the queer and transgender communities they’re a part of.
Earth & Spice: Wine Club Tasting & Release
Sweater weather calls for wines with a little more depth. Join us for our October Wine Club tasting as we explore four autumn-ready bottles full of earthy, savory, spicy, and layered flavors—the kinds of wines that feel right at home alongside cooler nights and cozy fall meals.

Join us and Teodora Baba of Teinnovadora, a woman-owned wine distribution company specializing in premium Romanian wines that showcase regional character, craftsmanship, and terroir. Burgundy Unlocked: Wine Tasting
Burgundy has centuries of history, a maze of regions and classifications, and a reputation for being a little intimidating. We’re here to unlock it. Join Abe from Winebow for an approachable tasting through four wines that showcase different grapes, places, and expressions of one of the world’s most storied wine regions.
We’ll pour everything from bright, fresh Aligoté and Chardonnay to Pinot Noir—including a beautifully aged 2015 Savigny-lès-Beaune—while exploring what makes Burgundy, Burgundy.
